Alumnae here's what going on in our Chapter!
General Update
Although final exams really put a damper on things, Zeta
Lambda has made many awesome memories this semester to reminisce on. We
participated in the Homecoming float and banner competition where we came in
third and second respectively. We also welcomed many Alumnae to our Homecoming
Tailgate later that day. So good to have you home!
Zeta Lambda held Friday Night Lights and Nacho night to raise money for our beloved philanthropy, RPM. Sisters really got to have some fun at Semi in November and the Christmas Dinner Show in December that a few sisters helped to put on. We now have 27 newly initiated sisters that are eager to get started in their chair positions next semester, and we have 9 newly elected officers! Everyone is very excited to see what 2014 has in store.
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, and Cheers to the New Year!

New Member Spotlight- Rachael Farley
Rachael Farley grew
up locally in Indian Trail and attended high school at CATA so we know she has
the “Sigma Smarty” thing down pat. She is a freshman majoring in Biology in the
hopes of becoming a Physician’s Assistant. Rachael is very unique in that at
the age of 14, she received a liver transplant.
This experience in her life is what drew her to Sigma
during recruitment. While she never considered herself a sorority girl, she reluctantly
went through with a friend and found out for herself how amazing Greek life is.
Although she loved getting to meet all the genuine women during Sisterhood
round, Philanthropy round is what really hit home with her. She says that her
favorite event from this semester was Nacho Night because she was able to tell
others on campus more about RPM and Sigma. Rachael is really looking forward to
visiting the Play Atrium as soon as she can. On Greek life, Rachael says “you
don’t realize the bonds you’ll share until you’re a part of it. The constant
support is what makes us a family.”
Member Spotlight- Jayme Hussey
Jayme Hussey is a junior Nursing student from Concord, NC. After working her tail off her sophomore year, she was accepted into the Nursing program here at Wingate and is eager to be either a Neonatal or Labor and Delivery nurse. Her older sister Jaclyn and twin sister Jolyn are sisters of Tri Sigma (Zeta Lambda) as well.
Jayme’s love for children plays a significant role in her love for Sigma. Her favorite Sigma event is Friday Night Lights because it’s an event that everyone attends. She says that her favorite memories are often those that are unexpected and may seem small to others. For example, standing outside in the rain during an FNL game and just laughing and taking pictures is what she really loves about having sisters. She is currently serving as Co-Chair of T-Shirt, and she is excited to pass her first year of nursing school!

Alumna Spotlight - Meredith Plyes
Since
graduating in May, I first worked as a nanny for three sweet children during
the summer months. In September, I began
working at a chemical company, Clariant Corporation, in Charlotte. I have worked in the Environmental Safety and
Health Affairs department for this company the past two summers and am
currently working for them until December.
Beginning in January, I will be back on Wingate’s campus for the next three years pursuing my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. I am very excited to be coming back to Wingate soon and I cannot wait to see my Sigma sisters around campus!
